BITCOIN ENDGAME

A real-world test of Bitcoin’s post-subsidy future, offering early-stage participation under transparent, fixed rules that reaches its fee-only Endgame in approximately 12.6 years, not more than a century.

Bitcoin Endgame (ENDG) is a brand-new SHA-256 proof-of-work chain launched from a fresh genesis block. It is built to examine one core question: What happens when block subsidies end and miners must rely on fees alone?

ENDG compresses Bitcoin’s long issuance era into an accelerated, deterministic schedule and then permanently turns the subsidy off. It is not a fork of Bitcoin’s ledger or transaction history. It is an independent proof-of-work chain designed to model post-subsidy conditions under real-world consensus rules.

To reduce launch-time hash volatility and minimize the risk of long stalls later, ENDG uses a staged difficulty design: ASERT early for responsiveness, based on the well-tested Bitcoin Cash ASERT system, followed by a deterministic transition to Bitcoin’s 2016-block retarget to model legacy behavior, and a deterministic liveness failover if legacy behavior ever stalls.

How it works

ENDG is a Bitcoin-style proof-of-work chain built to reach the fee-only world on an accelerated timeline so the market can observe real behavior rather than rely only on theory.

A brand-new chain from genesis

ENDG starts at block zero with its own genesis block and network identity. It is not a copy of Bitcoin’s ledger history. That creates a clean starting point for miners, builders, and early participants.

  • Independent chain identity
  • All modern Bitcoin-era rules active at or near genesis
  • Designed to track upstream Bitcoin Core improvements where compatible

The endgame arrives fast

Bitcoin’s subsidy lasts more than a century. ENDG accelerates that horizon. Subsidies step down through a series of eras and a final tail phase, then permanently cease at height 663,043 (about 12.6 years at 10-minute blocks).

  • Fixed cap: 21,000,000 ENDG
  • Accelerated schedule plus final tail phase
  • After height 663,043: subsidy = 0 (fees only)

Built to stay alive during shocks

New proof-of-work networks can see fast hash-rate swings. ENDG is designed to remain usable during volatility and to avoid extended stalls when the subsidy becomes small or zero.

  • Early years: per-block ASERT, based on the well-tested Bitcoin Cash ASERT system, with a staged half-life schedule
  • Deterministic transition to Bitcoin’s 2016-block retarget at height 421,344
  • Deterministic failover: if legacy behavior stalls, ENDG can return to ASERT automatically

Why Bitcoin Endgame is different

Bitcoin Endgame is designed to answer a fundamental question in proof-of-work economics: can a Bitcoin-style chain stay secure and functional when subsidy ends?

Not a Bitcoin ledger fork
ENDG launches from a fresh genesis block. It does not inherit Bitcoin’s transaction history.
A new genesis distribution model
All participants begin at genesis without inherited distribution, allowing early network formation under transparent issuance rules.
Endgame arrives in ~12.6 years
Subsidy steps down through eras and a tail phase, then reaches fee-only conditions at height 663,043.
Reliability is enforced by consensus
If legacy difficulty behavior stalls in fee-only conditions, ENDG can deterministically fail over to restore liveness.

Why the endgame matters

Bitcoin’s long-run security model assumes that transaction fees eventually replace block subsidies. ENDG compresses that transition into a single decade so the market can observe the outcome in real time instead of waiting more than a century.

Real-World Endgame Economics

ENDG is designed to let miners, users, researchers, and market participants study the full monetary arc of a Bitcoin-style chain from launch, to declining subsidies, to permanent fee-only security. It turns a distant theoretical question into something measurable.

  • Observe fee-market behavior under real consensus rules
  • Study miner incentives as block rewards decline
  • Test how security adapts when subsidy disappears

Built to remain usable while the chain runs to its Endgame

ENDG does not simply accelerate the timeline. It also includes a staged difficulty architecture and deterministic liveness safeguards so participants are not relying on theory alone. The goal is to preserve block production, confidence, and network continuity without governance intervention.

  • Staged ASERT launch behavior, based on the well-tested Bitcoin Cash ASERT system, designed to balance responsiveness and stability
  • Legacy Bitcoin-style retargeting when the network matures
  • Automatic consensus failover if legacy behavior ever freezes the chain
The 10x Emission Acceleration
Bitcoin Legacy 131 years
Status when ENDG reaches fee-only: 9.6% complete
Bitcoin Endgame 12.6 years
Status: 100% complete (fee-only reached)

ENDG reaches the fee-only regime 10.3x faster than Bitcoin Legacy.

ENDG is a new ledger from genesis. The codebase is Bitcoin-derived with documented consensus changes.

Launch & distribution

ENDG launches as an open, permissionless network from the first block. There is no ICO, presale, or protocol-level premine. Coins enter circulation only through proof-of-work block rewards. As with any newly launched proof-of-work network, early participation may be limited before broader awareness and infrastructure adoption.

  • No ICO / presale / fundraising sale.
  • No protocol-level premine. No special consensus allocation outside block rewards.
  • Rules-based issuance: all coins are issued by consensus through PoW block rewards under the schedule below.

Market viability is not guaranteed; the project is designed to make the chain explicit and resilient.

Protocol Economics

Emission schedule

ENDG enforces a fixed maximum supply of 21,000,000 ENDG. Subsidies step down through four core eras and a tail phase. The final subsidized block is height 663,043, after which subsidy becomes 0 permanently (fees only).

Core Eras:

Approximate duration to fee-only at 10-minute target spacing: ~12.6 years.

Difficulty architecture (ASERT → legacy → failover)

ENDG uses staged per-block ASERT early, based on the well-tested Bitcoin Cash ASERT system, to adapt to sustained hash-rate changes without overreacting to short-term variance. The protocol later transitions to Bitcoin’s 2016-block retarget to model legacy behavior. If the legacy system stalls under extreme conditions, deterministic failover rules can restore liveness automatically.

Early Network Difficulty
ENDG uses staged ASERT during the early network era:
Year 1: 2 hours
Year 2: 4 hours
Year 3: 8 hours
Years 4–8: 12 hours

This allows the network to respond within hours rather than weeks
while reducing instability from short-term variance.

Legacy Modeling:
- Deterministic transition at height 421,344
- Bitcoin 2016-block retarget window

Failover (consensus-enforced):
- Median Time Past (MTP) span across the most recent 6 blocks ≥ 48 hours, OR
- Average MTP spacing across the most recent 12 blocks ≥ 60 minutes
=> Deterministic transition back to ASERT (permanent, one-way)

The purpose is straightforward: keep the chain producing blocks in the real world, without governance intervention.
